I. Equipment Introduction
The basic principle of a vertical steam sterilizer for medical waste is to use high-temperature, high-pressure steam to kill pathogenic microorganisms in medical waste, thus eliminating its potential infectious hazards. This sterilizer is suitable for treating infectious and sharps waste listed in the "Medical Waste Classification Catalogue" and the "National Hazardous Waste List." It is not suitable for treating pharmaceutical waste, chemical waste, or pathological waste.
Vertical steam sterilizer for medical waste – This system employs a fully automatic PLC electrical control system, featuring both an automatic processing mode and a manual mode (in which the water softener, steam generator, inlet/outlet doors, rapid pulverization system, and filtration equipment can be started and stopped separately). The control system is equipped with a touchscreen display, allowing real-time operation of all equipment modules and display of equipment status. The PLC control system automatically controls the sterilization temperature and time, and monitors the entire sterilization process in real time. The sterilization process and treatment effect meet relevant WHO standards and the requirements of the "Technical Specification for Centralized High-Temperature Steam Sterilization Treatment of Medical Waste" (HJ 276—2021), making it an ideal device for steam sterilization of medical waste.
II. Working Principle
The collected medical waste is fed into a sterilizer via an elevator system. The sterilizer's feed door is then closed, and a shredding system inside the sterilizer breaks the medical waste into particles. After shredding, high-temperature, high-pressure saturated steam is introduced into the sterilizer. Once treatment is complete, residual gas is evacuated through a vacuum system, and air is injected from the outside. Finally, the sterilized waste is removed from the sterilizer. In this way, the sterilized waste is reduced in volume and weight, and pathogens are effectively killed, allowing it to be treated as ordinary household waste and enter the municipal waste collection and treatment system.

High-temperature sterilization is a heat transfer process, during which a temperature difference always exists. If the temperature difference exceeds the allowable range, the high-temperature area will be over-sterilized, while the low-temperature area will not achieve the sterilization effect. Therefore, the uniformity of temperature distribution within the thermal sterilization equipment and the heating status of the center of the material contents are closely related to the safety of the material.
